Glow Up Guide: Wax Care 101
-
Your hair should be at least ¼ inch in length or 3 weeks after a shave and 4 weeks after a wax.
Exfoliate the skin prior to waxing. This provides an easier removal of the hair follicles, ensuring smoother results.
You may take a Tylenol 30-45 minutes prior to waxing to help minimize any discomfort.
Avoid Stimulants such as caffeine and alcohol immediately before waxing. Stimulants make your skin more sensitive.
Avoid heat-related activities like hot yoga, steam rooms and tanning before waxing.
Do not wax if you are on any skin-sensitive medications that may cause the skin to lift (ie. Accutane or Retin-A).
-
Experiencing some redness after waxing is normal and will usually subside within 24-48 hours. Depending on your hair type and or if it’s your first time waxing, you may experience more irritation than usual.
Wearing loose, comfortable clothing will help with irritating the skin less.
Refrain from heat related activities (ie. hot yoga, steam rooms, tanning), excessive exercise/sweating, swimming in chlorinated pools.
Avoid shaving and or trimming between your waxing appointments.
Stay consistent with your waxing schedule ( every 4-5 weeks).
-
It is important to start Exfoliating 2 days after your wax and continue to do so every day after.
Exfoliating your skin helps with dead skin build-up that can block your pores. Dry brush exfoliation at least 3 to 4 times a week is important, or exfoliating with an exfoliating mitt with a non-abrasive cleanser.
